I posted something stating I really enjoy country music, in fact, it is pretty much the only thing I listen to. My pseudo friend, who is a hardcore musician, tried to tell me country music is lame and it has no value.</p> <p>I just don’t understand why someone would even say this. What did he expect me to say? “Why yes, you’re correct, an entire genre of music that makes billions of dollars every year has absolutely no value, and yes, you’re right, it totally blows.”</p> <p>I mean really. This kid plays jazz music for a living (something I find laughable) and jazz is a genre of music I don’t particularly care for. But I would never say it has no value. Personally I think jazz sounds like a bunch of idiots got together one day, blew into instruments and it kinda sucked, didn’t sound too good, was off beat, but they decided it was “hipster cool” at the time and ta dah! I also try not to be jealous of people and be thankful for what I have. But lately I have found it very hard not to be jealous and wonder the time old question, “Why me?”.</p> <p>WHY did I lose my job?</p> <p>WHY did I have to move back in with my parents?</p> <p>WHY did this happen to ME?</p> <p>It seems unfair. But I would be the first person to say to myself, “Well, Ashley, life isn’t always fair and you just need to buck up and deal.”</p> <p>So that is why it bothers me so much to be jealous of people. Especially people I like or love, like friends. Okay, I’m not even going to dance around the subject anymore: I’m jealous becase a majority of my close friends seem to be much better off than I am and it irks me. Many of my friends spend money like it grows on trees in their backyards. They swipety swipe plastic till I can smell the plastic burning. They go on trips, spend money on new phones, eat out, drink till their heart’s content on Friday and Saturday nights. But me - here I am, just applying to jobs, going to interviews and getting shot down day in and day out.</p> <p>I don’t want to be jealous of my friends because deep down it makes me really hate them in a way. I don’t hate them for having the things they do, but I hate them because of the way they make me feel about myself. Inadequate. I haven’t really hung out with any of my friends in a very long time.
