Is this your GRE study-guide? Wow, I should read more considering it says GRE book above.  “In “Batman” 1989, they were walking home with Bruce when a street thug named Jack Napier (later in time he becomes The Joker) held them up at gunpoint and killed them in an isolated dark alley. He also let Bruce live because he was young, harmless and defenseless.”
